10. Millennium Midstream Partners

What it does: provides "midstream" services for small and midsize natural-gas producers -- that is, gathering, processing and moving the stuff via pipeline to the end consumer. The company also sells natural gas directly to municipal, commercial and industrial customers in Texas.

Why it's growing: Since 2003, the price of natural gas has more than doubled, spurring activity on wells that were not economically viable before. Millennium has tripled its pipeline capacity through acquisitions and acquired contractual rights to several gas-processing plants, producing a fivefold increase in processing volume over four years.
