By StartupNation

1. Exquisite Air Charter, Beverly Hills, Calif.

Exquisite Air Charter lets its customers hop a private plane for a trip from anywhere in the world to anywhere in the world. Whether it's the most common of destinations or the most exclusive, Exquisite can take you there. Not only that, it offers organic meals from the finest restaurants and caterers around the world. A concierge service is also available to plug you into any local activities you may desire. One very worldly thing -- the company's Web site offers an up-to-the-minute currency converter that makes stepping off the jet in a different country a little less confusing.

2. The Enoch Olinga College of Intercultural Studies, Macon, Ga.

The Enoch Olinga College of Intercultural Studies is an online institute of higher education that provides the equivalent of a four-year college degree to students around the world who, for various reasons, have trouble physically attending an accredited college or university in the United States. The college provides scholarships to students of excellence and of underserved populations. Education, the college believes, is a "tool to break the chains of poverty."

3. Brazilian-Bikinis.net, Fortaleza, Brazil

Thales Panagides was born in Ames, Iowa, but he's far from there now. Home base is his apartment in the beachside city of Fortaleza, Brazil. The world's largest independent distributor of Brazilian bikinis, he does business in 41 countries and has sold at least one bikini to customers in most of the United States. He's determined to sell to all 50 states, targeting the outliers of Alaska, Delaware, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming.

4. Kewl Tubes, Reading, Pa.

What makes Kewl Tubes worldly? Its customers hail from around the world. Diane Gracely's hand-knit golf club head covers are shipped to places like Australia, Spain, England and Malaysia. With the popularity of golf, Gracely's skills and an effective Web site, going global is an easy putt.

5. CenterPoint, West Orange, N.J.

Melanie Gass' CenterPoint is a computer-training company that also provides PowerPoint support. We were particularly drawn to its PowerPoint presentation creation services. PowerPoint is part of the universal language of business these days, and CenterPoint builds presentations that translate to audiences anywhere around the globe.

6. Reapalife, Harrisonburg, Va.

Reapalife is an Afri-centric, Judeo-Christian multimedia company attempting to fuse music, art and education into positive social change. The owner, the Rev. Nikitah Okembe-Ra Imani, has renamed his residence Africa House.

7. Paris Real Estate Finders, Denver and Paris

There is no Paris MLS, but Darrell Halverson and Stephanie Freedman's online search capabilities can help you locate properties that fit your specific criteria just like a multiple-listing service. Apartments for sale in Paris are their specialty. An initial search is free.

8. Creative Stream Marketing, Youngstown, Ohio

John Centofanti's Creative Stream Marketing provides marketing and creative services to retailers and business-to-business organizations. Services include strategic planning and branding. What makes this business particularly worldly is that it helps companies from around the globe target the U.S. market to expand sales.

9. InsomTech, Redding, Calif.

You don't have to be a behemoth company to be a global player these days. This small enterprise sells its encryption software worldwide. Aaron Gonzalez and partners created the software and are finding it relatively easy to establish customers from places near and far.

10. Ocean Summit Travel, Louisville, Colo.

Pamela Smith started Ocean Summit Travel from her home in Louisville, Colo., in July 2002 after having run another venture-capital-backed startup. After successfully marketing her own beachfront condo in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, for rental, people started approaching her to help them rent out theirs. And off she went. She expanded on the idea by marketing the vacation rentals of other vacation-home owners in Colorado ski-resort areas. Now she also handles beach resorts in the Caribbean, South Carolina and Mexico, as well as most of the ski-resort areas in North America.
