With Gucci, you get expensive threads and fine leather. You also get jealousy, greed and murder. The story's already "in development" as a movie tentatively slated to star Russell Crowe and be directed by Ridley Scott.

In it, the audience is sure to learn who killed Maurizio, the do-right grandson of landmark designer Rodolfo Gucci -- and why. Here's a hint: Hell hath no fury like a scorned ex-wife who fears the money spigot could get switched off. It's a morality tale about the decline of family dynasties. The twist? It's done nothing to take the sheen off the Gucci brand.
