this article convienently fails to mention that under the CLASS Act, you have to pay premiums for 5 years before collecting a benefit. this is just a way for the government to start collecting money to pay for ObamaCare. It also doesn't mention that if your employer decides to offer this, all employees are automatically enrolled in the plan, and must complete a form to opt out of the program, if they don't want $150 a month taken out of of their paycheck.

I would rather start now putting the approximate premium amount in a savings account every month, first to see if I could even be able to afford it on a strict monthly budget, and second to keep saving whatever it totals up to so I have money to pay any emergency care I may need over any insurance payments. I for one would put a bullet in my head and be done with it if I ever got so terminally ill and infirm I was now going to drain my loved ones of every penny they had plus put them into debt, leaving nothing for themselves later on. My life at that point would not be worth robbing younger ones of their livelihood. Health care isn't made to "help" the elderly so much as it is to make money for insurance companies and others. Affordable insurance isn't available because so many would have it that the companies would go broke actually providing the health care expenses they accept payments for. Not from me, Heaven is free and healthy thanks.

Another feather in the cap for insurance companies.  We don't need more insurance.  What we need is a single payer system of health care to cover all of us from cradle to grave.  There would be billions of dollars of savings by eliminating the insurance profit layer.

Good article as far as it goes.  The problem with this plan is that healthy people will quickly tire of the continuing increase in premiums which will only leave those with health problems in the pool - which will only serve to drive the costs up more quickly.  Soon, those with a need for care will find it would be less expensive to pay for their care out of pocket rather than pay the premiums that will be needed to sustain the plan.

The danger will be the people who scam the system by receiving benefits for people who get govt $$ for care that isn't needed or isn't provided yet it is billed for, like the millions of $$ scammed from medicare and medicaid every yr.  Therse scams are like a roaches for everyone you see or hear about there are 100's more probably on a smaller scale that you don't know about!

It's a start in the right direction.  The danger will be the politicians "borrowing" the funds for current non-related expenses (as they do currently with Social Security) and filling the account with government IOUs.  If the employees' deposits can be protected from those raids, this could be a good move away from the present requirement of impoverishing life time nest eggs before becoming eligible for government (Medical Assistance) benefits.

What planet are you people on? SEnd more money for long term care to insurers who will find another way to deny policy holders. This when most people in US are just trying to survive----we need a single payer system for health care, and assisted living centers that don't take every penny a person manages to save for old age. It is time to rethink the capitalist system, and find a form of government that protects people from greedy banks, insurers, and the rest of the capitalist leeches.

To really understand this very important issue that is not discussed by the politicians or the public I would like to recommend a good book that is not political but just states the facts.

It is:  To Tax or/and To Ration,  the authors are:  Ken Doyle, PhD and Larry Houk, JD
